Moving on from music research, I'm going to use this for my current hobby - taking our Japanese Spitz puppies out to play with others. It will be good to have a central place for the photo's of play days; all members of the groups are welcome to look here for their furkids too...

No, No , No, No, Nooo!
OK - I have to play this just to see if I remember it! I don't know what we were thinking! 1982, be ashamed!
They just keep coming - 1982 - what a mix!
Have continued working through the Sydney hits in 1982. The range of music, appearing in the same time frame and proving very popular is really amazing. We have moved from the Clash to these next 2, XTC - Senses Working Overtime and Leo Sayer - Have You Ever Been In Love... An amazing array that was spotted with Madness (It Must Be Love), Julio Iglesias (Begin The Beguine) and who could forget Cold Chisel (Forever Now), The Jam (Town Called Malice), or the Joan Jett and the Blackhearts rocker, I Love Rock'n'Roll?! Classics!
I'm going to listen to these now... hope you get a chance to listen to them soon!!! C U L8R...
New Gem found...
Hey everyone - decided I had better get back to work cattledogging - just as well I did, LOL.
Have found some really good items in the latest box of goodies. Seems we're doing the early eighties now and here's a sample of what's coming... The Clash - This Is Radio Clash and Radio Clash - do you remember them?

The Year is 1973 - Farnham Fans only need apply...
Now, I have been a fan of the plumbing Farnham for many a year. Call him Johnny, call him John - I just go by the record label, but respect the talent. It is awesome.
Anyway, going through the collection I found this single. I cannot believe I cannot remember it ( as opposed to not hearing it, LOL). I'm glad though - it's shite! Does anyone remember this, and / or have a comment? The song is "I Can't Dance To Your Music" by Johnny Farnham.

Compare this to now, there seems to be a bit of deja vu!

Oz - Mar 1980
Seems March 1980 was a big month in Oz. Whilst cataloguing the March hits I found the following two items. The covers are special and reveal the time as it was...
1. London Calling: ranked at number eight on Rolling Stone' list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time in 2003. London Calling has sold over two million copies worldwide.
2. Brass In Pocket: The band's third single, it was their first success, scoring number two in Australia during 1980, and number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States. Chrissie Hynde revealed that she was initially reluctant to have the song released and remembers feeling a bit sheepish when it went to number one.

Classic Items Local and O/S
I was again trawling the records (the vinyl ones, LOL) and had to listen to these two offerings. One is the Aussie band Cold Chisel - what a selection - so good to hear all at one time! Here's a link to the detail: http://www.discogs.com/Cold-Chisel-Radio-Songs-A-Best-Of/release/1344231
Then I found a gem from Bryan Ferry. After listening to the "Price Of Love" EP on the weekend I was hungry for a bit more Bryan. This one's a classic and was under-rated. If you have not heard this album before and you like Bryan Ferry, I recommend it... highly! Visit here to listen to two tracks: http://www.bryanferry.com/bn.html
Anyway, hope to have some new blasts soon...

A 12" Surprise
Cold Fact...
I've had this smouldering in the collection for years. Seems Sixto Rodriguez had quite a following in Oz, but little other than in South Africa; until recently.
Rodriguez has finally started to be recognised in the US. So much so, this album was re-released and sold pretty well. Nothing like having the " Original" though, hehehehe.
A bigger blast!
Released in 1958, this album included tracks like "Chantilly Lace", "Pink Petticoats", "Big Bopper's Wedding" and "Little Red Riding Hood". The cover, as shown here, tells the story.
It was a pioneering album; there were 3 "Rock Video's" (all made in one day!) made from the first, third and fourth tracks mentioned above.
The Reverse cover tells a bit of the story. Too bad the music died that day (JP was one of the people killed in the Buddy Holly air crash).
A blast from the past
